Learning how to buy a gun is a common first step in the process of acquiring a firearm. Patterson Arms works with several wholesalers to give you many options to choose from.  We are a home-based FFL without the overhead, and can usually meet or beat prices on new guns and accessories.  

We consider trades and sometimes buy guns outright.  Alternatively, we can take your firearm on consignment, where we do all the work towards the sale of your firearm, including listing, promoting, packaging, and shipping if needed.  

FFL Transfers

We can be your local FFL, providing background checks, and meet local, state, and federal guidelines

We charge a flat $40 (includes CBI fee*) for the first firearm per 4473 form, $10 for each additional

(Military, Veterans, First Responders – first item $30)

*CBI fee = Colorado Bureau of Investigation background fee; currently $10.50 as of July 1, 2018

Patterson Arms FAQ

  • Buyer purchases a firearm from online store or auction site
  • Buyer selects a FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) to receive the firearm (Receiving FFL)
  • Receiving FFL provides a copy of  FFL license to Seller (usually via email or fax)
  • Seller ships firearm to Receiving FFL
  • Once shipment received, Buyer visits Receiving FFL to complete ATF paperwork and Background Check
  • Upon approval and payment of fees, Receiving FFL transfers firearm to Buyer

The identification document presented by the Buyer must have a photo of the Buyer, name, address, and date of birth, and must be issued by a governmental entity for the purpose of identification of individuals. (e.g. Drivers License, Colorado ID card)

A secondary form of ID must be provided that reflects Buyer’s current address in order to establish residency.

  • Military orders reflecting duty station of Colorado
